Meet the Therapists:


Theresa Adamchik - Art Therapist
Theresa

Theresa L. Adamchik is a Licensed Professional Art Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate living and working in Louisville, Kentucky. She received her Masters of Education with a concentration in Art Therapy and Counseling from University of Louisville in 2006, and her undergrad in Fine Arts with concentration in 2D design from University of Louisville in 2002. She has been working with children and adults with developmental disabilities such as Down's syndrome, autism, and pervasive developmental disorder for the past seven years. Currently, she is on the board for the Kentucky Art Therapy Association as a liason to the National Assembly and a member of the American Art Therapy Association. Theresa has also participated in play therapy as well as sand tray and MARI assessment trainings, and enjoys working in the art studio on her own painting, photography, and fiber art.

Emily Ibershoff - Music Therapist
Emily Ibershoff

Emily Ibershoff is a Board Certified Music Therapist. She received her Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy from Florida State University in 2005. She has worked with adults with physical and cognitive/developmental disabilities for the past three years. She also has experience working with children and adults with psychiatric disorders, and children and families in a general medical setting. Emily is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and the Kentucky Music Therapy Association and has provided supervision for University of Louisville Music Therapy students. She is currently completing her Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of Louisville.

Julia Purcell - Music Therapist
Julia

Julia W. Purcell is a Board Certified Music Therapist. In 2004, she completed her Music Therapy degree from Michigan State University. Throughout her training and vocation, Julia has had the opportunity to work with individuals with varying needs, including children with emotional impairments, adults and children with a range of developmental disabilities, and adults living with cancer. For the past 5 years she has provided Music Therapy services for adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities in a residential training facility in Louisville. In addition to her clinical work, she provides clinical supervision to University of Louisville Music Therapy Students, and also teaches a Music Therapy Improvisation Course at the University of Louisville. Julia is a member of the American Music Therapy Association and the Kentucky Music Therapy Association where she currently serves as the government relations committee chair. In her spare time she plays in a bluegrass/old-time band.
